Introducing the New “Chief” to our Range – The Numzaan Boot.
We’ve listened to our customers and are thrilled to bring you the Numzaan boot—crafted with the Jim Green touch for top quality, comfort, and formality on every occasion.
Derived from the Zulu word “Numzaan,” meaning the head of a family or a leader, we proudly present the Numzaan boot as the distinguished “Chief” in our collection. Inspired by our Baobab boot, it projects a heritage feel and features our new Veg Tan leather, making it our most stylish boot to date.
You may want to sit down for this one as there are a lot of specs to run through for this one. The Numzaan boot boasts a double lasted upper (2.2mm lined with 1.2mm calfskin) which is then finished off with a genuine toe cap, making this boot sport over 5mm of leather around the toes. The Heel and toe area is also reinforced with thermoplastic toe puffs for added support.
This is paired with an ankle-high lace-up system and bellows tongue. The unique facing pattern allows for less lace pressure for those days when the boots need some added tightening. Our ASHM last allows for a “fashion” look while still accommodating a wider foot. The good news doesn’t stop there, we’ve gone the extra mile and incorporated a leather lasting board, leather midsole, and a resin runner (a total of over 8mm of leather) that will gradually mold to the shape of your feet.

- Double layer of leather aids in the boots’ water-resistant properties (not waterproof).

- The Toe, Heel, and Eyelet area are manufactured with a double layer of 2.2mm Nubuck leather for added durability.

- A steel shank between the insole board and sole offers extra support and stability.

- The heavy-duty speed hooks and eyelets help secure your feet.
- The leather midsole is secured to the upper with a double-stitched 2.2mm braided nylon cord.
- As with all our boots, these can be resoled due to their double stitch down construction.
- ASHM last – This is a deceivingly narrow in look last but still offers the traditional D width wide fit with a slightly tapered toe box (for wide feet or those wearing thick socks, we suggest going a half size up from your normal Jim Green size).

Inspector Nash Bridges –
No matter what you do, or don’t do, these boots will never look like the way do coming out of the box. Fudge oily nubuck is a top grain leather where the top grain has been sanded down. This removes the blemishes, allowing the use of leather which would otherwise have imperfections. The leather is also not as strong as full grain leather. With any wear or use, the leather will change color and appearance. You can brush it with a suede brush to try to loosen and raise the nap. It will stain easily. Blood, BBQ sauce, motor oil…… will all soak right in and you will never be able to clean it out.
This is a softer leather. It will break in much easier than the veg ReTan leather. You can use mink oil and neatsfoot oil. The boot will soak the oil. The oil will condition the leather. Once the leather is impregnated with oil, water will net b e able to penetrate. Again, don’t worry about the color changing. Color will change with wear, even if you do nothing.
