The Rugged African Trooper Boot: Built Tough
Introducing the new Rugged African Trooper boot, a collaboration between Jim Green Footwear and Rose Anvil. A new variation of our Barefoot African Troopers with a twist of added durability. These boots are built to tackle any terrain with added comfort thanks to our Veg Tan leather midsole. This new collaboration not only brings together the history of Jim Green and knowledge of Rose Anvil but also the traditions of American and South African boot-making techniques.
The Rugged African Trooper boot combines style, comfort and durability into the ultimate outdoor boot. Its sturdy design and high ankle support provide necessary protection, while the spacious toe box allow your feet to move comfortably.
With a mixture of our smooth Nubuck leather and rough out Nubuck leather, this boot is designed for any terrain. The rough out leather vamp and heel counter allows for you to go through life without worrying about scuffing up your boots. The added benefit of a smooth finish Nubuck on the boots quarters is a beautiful patina that will come with time and wear.

I’m so excited to receive my pair. I’ve been wearing them since launch and they are well made. Love the the amount of leather they use in this boot. The Fudge is my favorite color too. I haven’t had the chance to try them in snow, and I hope I get the same results as the other reviewer

I want to follow up to my initial review, as I have broken the boots in and they are so comfortable, and have worn in very nicely. They still have their shape, stand up to some rugged terrains very nicely, I love how the sole grips any and all surfaces. They have been great for the Oklahoma winter, providing lots of traction in the snow and paired with a good wool sock they are very warm and dry.

I received my boots a few weeks ago, I have been making every excuse that I can to wear my boots. There is a firm break in period, I’ve got maybe 10 miles on them so far and they are starting to break in slowly. The first 5 miles I had a few blisters and hot spots on my heal and the inside ball of my feet. I just threw some Luko tape on my feet, and i double up my socks and I’m doing just fine. I ordered 12.5 according to the size guide, I should have maybe only ordered a 12.0; i am still figuring out what lacing works best for me, and I must say they are a little flatter than I thought, even with the outsole it feels like a zero drop shoe. Overall i like the boots, they are very nice. There are some loose strings, the edges of the leather midsole could have been burnished to make a uniform smooth edge, and when you pull off the boots they take your socks off. Overall, I love my boots. They could be better in some ways, but I feel as I wear them overtime they will grow on me more and more. I wanted to very thorough in my review, so if I seem nit picky its because I want to illicit all of my thoughts on the boot as honestly as I can. I will upload pictures soon.
