Introducing the New “Chief” to our Range – The Numzaan Boot.

We’ve listened to our customers and are thrilled to bring you the Numzaan boot—crafted with the Jim Green touch for top quality, comfort, and formality on every occasion.

Derived from the Zulu word “Numzaan,” meaning the head of a family or a leader, we proudly present the Numzaan boot as the distinguished “Chief” in our collection. Inspired by our Baobab boot, it projects a heritage feel and features our new Veg Tan leather, making it our most stylish boot to date.

You may want to sit down for this one as there are a lot of specs to run through. The Numzaan boot boasts a double lasted upper (2.2mm lined with 1.2mm calfskin) and is finished off with a genuine toe cap, making this boot sport over 5mm of leather around the toes. The Heel and toe area is also reinforced with thermoplastic toe puffs for added support. This is paired with an ankle-high lace-up system and bellows tongue.

The unique facing pattern allows for less lace pressure for those days when the boots need some added tightening. We’ve gone the extra mile by incorporating a leather lasting board, leather midsole, and a resin runner (totaling over 8mm of leather) that will gradually mold to the shape of your feet. All of this comes together with the innovative Frog Grip sole, marking a new stride forward in the Jim Green range.

Discover the unparalleled elegance and comfort of the Numzaan boot—a true leader in our range!

  • The boot is designed with elegance and comfort in mind.
  • Manufactured with a double layer of 2.2mm Veg retanned leather for added durability.
  • Double layer of leather aids in the boot’s water-resistant properties (not waterproof).
  • A true leather toe cap and built-in leather Kiltie add to the look and durability.
  • The Toe, Heel, and Eyelet areas are manufactured with a double layer of 2.2mm full grain leather for added durability.
  • Heel and Toe stiffeners for added durability, support, and protection.
  • A steel shank between the insole board and sole offers extra support and stability.
  • A leather lasting board, leather midsole, and a resin runner for added comfort and durability.
  • Heavy-duty speed hooks and eyelets help secure your feet.
  • The leather midsole is secured to the upper with a double-stitched 2.2mm braided nylon cord.
  • As with all our boots, these can be resoled due to their double stitch down construction.
  • Last: ASHM (This is standard width, and for those with wide feet or wearing thick socks, we suggest going a half size up from your normal Jim Green size).
  • Sole: Frog Grip or JG Lug.
  • Weight: 3.62 lbs (Size 9 US).
  • Laces: 59.05 inches.

A true classic style with that Jim Green flair. Beautiful quality leather that I can’t wait to see patina. Flawless stitching. Extremely comfortable and grippy Frog Grip Sole. Day one break in is a breeze. Can’t wait for many years with these daily drivers.

Well done Jim Green, these are a great pair of boots with phenomenal build quality and attention to detail. In my opinion at this price these really can’t be beat. A bit slimmer design than other Jim Green offerings with truly heritage build quality (I own Red Wing, Whites, Thursday, Blkbrd & other Jim Green products as point of reference) make for a great purchase. The Frog Grip sole is a great option for these boots and feels softer under foot than my other Jim Green boots w/ the lug soles. I don’t doubt I will be wearing these for years to come.

I received my Numzaan with the frog grip sole a couple weeks ago. I wanted to wait and wear it a bit before writing a review. For context, I own a lot of boots, including some models that were stupidly expensive. Boots from UK, Italy, PNW, Germany, New England, etc.

When I took these out of the box, I was shocked. The first thing I noticed was just how thick – but somehow still supple – the leather was. The stitchdown construction was absolutely flawless. The frog grip sole is thicker than it seems to appear in the website photos. The walnut leather is beautiful. They are heavy, but not in an uncomfortable way. Break in was quick and painless. And the frog sole is fantastic. I LOVE this boot, and will be one of the first in line when the green ones drop later this year.

Been wearing my walnut Numzaans with the lug sole for almost a week now, and I am extremely pleased with them! Break in took a couple days of walking, but they’re super comfortable now and will only get better with time. They fit true to size, I’m a 9.5 / 10 US men’s on the Brannock, and ordered a size 10 upon the recommendation from Jim Green’s CS. There’s plenty of wiggle room in the toe box, but not too much to where they feel like clown shoes. Build quality is incredible, especially for a $250 pair of boots. After having tried on a pair of Iron Rangers before these, I’d take these over the Red Wings time and time again, especially considering they’re $100 less and feel much more rugged in their build quality.
I have no doubt these will last decades, and swing way out of their league. Great pair of boots!

So, I’ve got some Red Wings and White’s boots so I’m not new to breaking in boots. I went for these because they’ve got this spacious toe box, when they arrived, they were stiff as heck straight outta the box. But hey, that’s what you expect with well-made boots, right? Once I’ve put some miles on them, though, I reckon they’ll fit like they were custom-made for my feet.

For anyone not in the know, good boots like these take a bit of time to break in—like, we’re talking a solid month for most folks. The leather starts to soften up, the insoles mold to your feet, and before you know it, they feel like a second skin. And man, don’t even get me started on the color—I’m psyched to see how they age and get that sweet patina going!

I cannot believe the quality of these boots that I purchased for only $249.99 which include freight. I reckon that you would have to pay at least $500.00-$600.00, to purchase a better boot. They are extremely durable. Yes they were stiff and not easy to break in, but that is part of the deal. BUY A PAIR!

This is a very unique boot! The leather is very nice and well saturated with oils. It seems like a cross between a veg tan and chromexcel leather. I’m not sure I love the built-in kiltie but so far it’s comfortable even though you can’t tighten the laces down. I ordered an 8.5 with my Brannock size being somewhere between an 8.5-9 and a wide preference. The last on these boots is really great for me since it is wide for your toes yet tapered at the front for a sleeker look. There is a ton of leather on these so they take a bit to break in as with any all leather boot. I’m stoked about this style of boot and all the leather beneath my feet! I added an extra leather insole to adjust the fit slightly as these were a bit large despite being advertised as true to brannock sizing. My whites boots are also 8.5 and basically the same size. Over all, a great boot at a bargain price!

I received my Jim green numzaan boots with the frog grip soles and walnut veg tan leather in July 2024 wanted to wear them for a while before giving my review. I have to say I have many boots for red wing Dana Irish setter and origin and I will say, as far as value, comfort and build quality these might be the best boots I’ve ever owned Breakin was not as bad as others have said I’ve had boots in the past that have had a harder Break in The more I wear them the more I love them they just keep getting better I will definitely be ordering from Jim Green again
