I’ve owned this wedge sole boot for almost two years now and it’s still Excellent!! I usually wear out boots in 6months, but these Jim Greens’ are well worth the cost.
The fit for my (size 14) feet are perfect…. I did change out the insole pad when I first purchased these, as I mentioned, I’m on my feet every day – and rough on boots. After break in these have been my go to footwear, and will remain so!
I hope they keep these boots around for a long time…. though I see they are not offering size 14 currently??
Great boot, great overall pricing, and an very nice looking boot.

I have foot neuropathy, and as comfortable as other Jim Green models are to wear, they don’t give me the stiffness and stability I need to walk safely, especially on unpaved terrain.

I bought a pair of standard Razorbacks, and they exceed my needs on all terrain, but the lug sole is really hard, and walking on a suburban/urban surface nearly knocks the fillings out of my teeth.

So the ultimate boot for me would be a Razorback with a softer sole, and sure enough, this is it! I couldn’t be more pleased with both models. I use the wedge sole version for daily wear around town, you know, sidewalks, pavement, and store floors; and I wear the lug sole version for “off-road walking”, you know, trail hiking, fairgrounds, and other outdoor stuff.

I haven’t been able to walk well for two decades now, and I can’t describe in words how grateful I am for these Jim Green Razorbacks restoring my ability to go out into the world again.

If you are a fan of the standard Razorback, but might favor a softer ride, this wedge sole version may be what you are looking for. I recommend them highly.

The wedge sole Razorbacks (in brown) are great boots. I received mine in June and have walked well over 400 miles in them. Lots of those miles on city streets and a fair amount in the woods. The boots were comfortable out of the box, broke in quickly, and, other than some sole wear, still look new. I haven’t done anything to them except apply brush them down a few times a week and apply Rhino Wax waterproofer.

I love the soft wedge soles. They’re very quiet and provide good traction on all surfaces (except slick mud, where no sole provides good traction)

I’ve worn them all… and these are the best work boots I’ve ever had. My brannock size is 12.5, but most manufacturers stop half sizes after 12 therefore I am always stuck with 13, so I am thrilled to have my true size for once. Also I have a wide forefoot, with low volume and narrow ankles and heel. Typically I have to buy EE width boots so my forefoot fits comfortably, but then I am swimming in the rest of it. This last is absolutely the best fitting boot last I have ever had. Also they don’t look like clown shoes on me (all my other boots do) because they fit so well so I can actually wear them with shorts and not feel like a goof. The leather liner is very nice for comfort and water resistance, however I do think it might make the boots run a bit hot on warmer days. I love the unique Jim Green look and accent colors. Usually I can’t wait to toss my work boots aside on the weekend, but I find myself wearing these every single day. Long live the Razorback.

I got these Jim Greene Razorback a few days ago. So far I really like them…a LOT. These are the brown leather ones with the wedge sole. The D-ring eyelets will easily allow for adjustment to either heavy or light socks. At this point in serious competition for the most comfortable boots I have worn. I’m a retired farmer who is 76 and have slight neuropathy in my feet as a result of a bout with spinal stenosis, which was surgically corrected. The neuropathy is mild, but my feet can feel the imprint of the tread pattern of the soles after a few hours and it can feel like the socks have been glued to the bottoms of my feet. I have worn boots with vibram soles all my life, but that seems to be the worst offender these days for my feet. The wedge sole seems pretty well suited for my current situation and I doubt I’ll miss the vibram style too much, as these days I am not nearly as concerned with rough ground traction. I have to be on my feet for quite a spell to feel the tread pattern here, so I’m really happy with that. These do feel a bit wider in the toe box compared to my other boots, but the fit around the heel and mid foot are perfect, and the toes always feel fine.

On another note related to the spinal stenosis is that very often when walking I will quickly get a hip lock feeling common to sciatica. With the Razorbacks, I have yet to have that happen. I’ve been having some difficulty since the surgery being able to walk enough to stay in any sort of decent shape, but these let me walk freely without that sciatica issue. I’m impressed.

I really like the full leather lined, double lasted construction. I only have one very slight issue (really a non issue) in that I would gladly pay a few more dollars for a a leather replacement for the lasting board, but as they have been making this boot for 30 years using that fiberboard, I doubt that I’ll notice anything detrimental here. I’d also like to see an option to pay a bit extra on delivery to get the shipment done by UPS. The laces are pretty long as I wound up cutting off about a foot on each lace.

The build quality looks top notch. The Danner boots I have are the less expensive glued sole, gore-tex types and the Razorback is built a lot better. I also wore these in to a couple of local stores and these JG are at least the equal of much more expensive boots like the leather lined Danner hiking boots which are twice the price of the JG.

The break in time is pretty minimal. You can wear these pain free right out of the box, but they will become more worn in to fit your foot, but no serious break in time is needed.

The only issue I have had is that they soaked through with water in about a half hour of wearing in a soggy wet pasture doing a quick emergency repair of a fence. This was on the third day I had them and I had not applied any conditioner. After getting back in the house I noticed they were damp inside. So I removed the laces and dried them out overnight. I was somewhat surprised at the amount of Obenauf’s leather oil they soaked in and how quickly they absorbed the two coats. I repeated the time in the wet pasture and they did not let any water back in. I actually ordered these in brown because that is the same color as the Obenauf oil creates, and if is the product I have come to trust over the years.

I have always used two pair of boots so I can periodically rest one and I’ll buy another Jim Greene. It will likely be the Baobab. I hope to see a brown added with the wedge sole.

Comfortable right out of the box. I have a wide foot, and these boots fit like a glove. The wedge sole option was a bonus for me, as I suffer from plantar fasciits, and the wedge sole allows my full weight to be spread evenly over my whole foot. The boot is large enough in the standard size for my orthotics as well. I love these boots.

Love these boots I work in a warehouse and are on my feet most of the day definitely will be a returning customer in the future only issue I had was my laces tore maybe it was my fault not to sure a couple dollar fix at my local store still a great boot

  8. buzz (verified owner)

I have wide toes, a tall instep and a narrow heel. I’ve never felt a boot with this much volume for my big feet. I wear a 27.5 mondo point and like a performance fit. My size 10 Razorback’s are the perfect length. Heel is a bit wider than I need, but I’d rather a little wiggle room on my daily wear. Fantastic boots. I don’t need more than 1 pair of boots, but if I did, Jim Green would get my money.

  9. Josh Patterson (verified owner)

Highly underrated boot. I have always struggled with finding boots and footwear in general that works for my toes. The toe box on these is perfect for me as someone who wears a double wide.

  10. Carl L. (verified owner)

My favorite Jim Green boot. I dyed them black and have worn them for several months, everyday for work. I’m on my feet the majority of the day and they are comfortable and had a very short break in period. I love having in one boot, the sole of the African Ranger, with the ankle support of the Razorback. This combination lends great stability when traversing terrain and maintaining sure footage upon terra firma. The wide toe box allows toes to spread for comfort and added stability.

I hope this boot stays around for a very long time.

I just got mine in the mail and it’s another winner from Jim Green. I already own the African Ranger, and the Vellies and I love both of those boots. I’ve had my eye on the razorback for a while and I couldn’t pass up the Black Friday price. They’re pretty comfortable right out of the box and I can’t wait wait to break these in. I like the look of the wedge sole. I ordered the same size as I have in African Ranger and these fit the same. I’m so glad I came across this brand via YouTube, as they are fast becoming my favorite brand.
