Meander Barefoot Moc Toe Boot – Rugged Craftsmanship, Everyday Comfort

The Meander Barefoot Moc Toe rightfully gets its name from a local area where we are base in South Africa, the Midlands Meander. Well known for its rolling hills, green meadows and chilli winters the Midlands of South Africa brings a sense of calm to anyone that has passed through. The area offers great Trout fishing, hiking and bird shooting which brings that sense of adventure, and with that one needs a Boot to go with it that will not only do the job but also stand out for that evening drink in the pub.

Built for weekend wanderers and those who value both style and durability, the Meander offers the perfect balance between a rugged construction and that genuine moc toe comfort. Whether you’re heading to the office or meandering through some fields, this boot is designed to move with you—delivering the quality Jim Green is known for in a refined, everyday silhouette.

Pairing this with our brand-new Africa Barefoot sole, you get enhanced ground feel plus rugged durability and grip—perfect for both urban terrain and off-the-grid adventures. No artificial arch support, no gimmicks—just pure barefoot freedom. If you’re looking for a boot that’s wide, tough, and designed to keep your feet happy and natural, the new Meander Barefoot Moc Toe Boot is it.

    Sizing:
These run small. I would recommend ordering up a half size. I own three other pairs of Jim Green boots built on the same last, and I still needed to size up for these to fit comfortably.

That said, Jim Green was excellent during the exchange process. They made it very easy and hassle-free.

    Comfort & Build:
For context, I also own the Barefoot Stockmans, African Rangers, and Shoellies. These are the most comfortable of the bunch, and I’ve had them for less than a week.

The additional layer of leather adds a bit more cushioning, and I strongly prefer this outsole over the Rose Anvil version. The kudu leather is especially impressive. It’s soft and pliable, almost like deerskin, and feels fantastic right out of the box.

My work doesn’t require a shank or heavy-duty construction, so this configuration is perfect for my needs. I fully expect to wear these daily until the weather forces me into shorts.

    Style & Finish:
These are also the best-looking pair I own. The Meander has a really clean profile and attractive lines, even at a wider width.

One note: I treated mine with Jim Green’s leather conditioner, which significantly deepened and enriched the color. If you prefer the lighter, more natural tone they come with, keep that in mind before conditioning. Personally, I prefer the added water resistance and the darker finish I ended up with.

    Overall:
Extremely comfortable, great-looking, and well-suited for everyday wear. With the right sizing, these have quickly become my go-to pair.
