I have had these boots for a few months now, they are built like a tank and have a little longer break-in period than most boots these days.
The sole is hard and rugged, I wore thick wool socks and slowly worked them into the work boot rotation.
They have the absolute best toe box I have ever experienced in a safety toe boot with no pinching and can throw on thick socks on a chilly day without my toes paying the price. They are heavy-duty, stylish, and after the break-in period fit like a glove. I have gone through safety toe boots from Twisted X, Danner, Caterpillar, and Keen, and none of them even come close, so glad I found them.
They exceeded my expectations, my only regret is not buying them sooner.
I hope Jim Green adds the Razorback with the wedge sole with a safety toe into their stock lineup.
    Cheers

As of the time of writing this review I have worn these boots nearly every day for two years to the month. When I first bought them I was working a job where I was on my feet walking 6-9 miles every day on concrete, sand, and gravel. These boots were so comfortable that I wear them even to casual events, going out on the town, hiking, even playing in the yard. I no longer work a job where steel toes are desirable, yet I still year these boots at work. Two years later I have worn down the lugs on the forefoot to almost nothing in certain spots (when I do get them resoled I will likely opt for a wedge sole). Cedar shoe trees, and regular cleaning and conditioning and polishing. I live in the south eastern coastal United States, so while I haven’t had much opportunity to wear these in the snow, they’ve seen quite a lot of rain, mud, heat, and humidity. Absolutely I would buy these again, I recommend them especially for people with wider toes, or looking for a more natural toe box in a work boot. Thank you, Jim Green

I can’t comment yet on long-term comfort, but my first impressions are great. Toe box is wide and roomy as I’ve heard, but I wasn’t sure exactly how they would fit for sizing. I have always worn size 11 boots, my feet measure exactly 11 inches long from heel to toe, so I ordered 11, and I’m happy to say that they fit perfectly as far as length and width is concerned. I can even wear thick wool winter socks and my toes still don’t feel suffocated or cramped. I can’t identify any pressure points about them either as far as construction is concerned. For example, with some boots, seams will be layered in places where if it bends, it stays stiff and jams into your foot awkwardly, when walking, and sometimes even just when resting, but there’s nothing like that here, they just feel super comfortable and supple as far as work boots come. Probably the most comfortable lace up work boots I’ve ever tried but i’m not sure about the stock insoles yet. I was wanting to order a pair of wedge sole African rangers as well based on how these fit, and I’m definitely going to do that now, the fit of these is seriously impressive.

i do wish these had a wedge sole option as stock though, i assume you can custom order these with one, but the problem is that afaik you can’t return customs and it will take much longer for them to arrive than existing stock that is waiting to be ordered in a warehouse in america. i needed steel toe work boots so these had to be my first order from this company to see what i think of them and i wasn’t prepared to make a custom order i couldn’t return if i didn’t like them and i need these now so i don’t want to return them now, so i’ll have to wait who knows how many years until these wear out for me to order a new custom wedge sole pair or hopefully by then, they will be a stock option. either that or i can see if they can be resoled with wedges if i ever get them resoled.

I wear steel toe boots 5 days a week at work. I walk on average 10-15 miles every day on a concrete shop floor. None of the different manufacturers I’ve tried have checked all the boxes (There have been a lot, trust me). Finding a steel toe boot that doesn’t pinch your toes together without buying an oversized boot is tough, and the fact that this boot does it for less than $200 USD is nothing short of astounding. The lug sole is very robust, but very hard under foot on concrete, it’s definitely better suited for outdoor use. I ended up ordering a custom pair of these steel toe razorbacks with the oringo wedge sole from their African Ranger boot and now have put almost 1500 miles on that pair of boots and they still have plenty of life in them. I have never had a more perfect work boot. Its the only boot I’ve found that doesn’t leave my feet fatigued at the end of the day.

In summary: Better all day comfort than any competitor I’ve found. You may find the lug sole is uncomfortable on concrete all day. Order a Custom version of this exact boot with the wedge sole and you will have the best work boot you could possibly get for ~$200 USD

I’ve had these boots for near four months now and they just don’t stop impressing. I won’t lie – they’re very unforgiving underfoot. These are some of the hardest boots I’ve ever put on – but they keep my feet protected from the uneven terrain I work on. The only boots more stable and rugged than these are my custom White’s – boots that cost nearly five times as much as these humble JGs. You won’t be disappointed.

I’ve been wearing these for a little over 6 months and they are great. I’m a brewer which means I spend 8+ hours a day on my feet in wet conditions and these boots have held up better in those conditions than any others I’ve tried before. I clean and condition the leather regularly and wax around the nylon stitching to help with water resistance. Overall, amazing quality for an unbelievable price.

Bought my steel toes a few weeks ago and they’ve been fantastic. Went true to size, wear mostly 11s and went with the Jim Green 11 and enjoy the fit. Initially a bit hard under the foot but break-in seems to have handled that. I’m smitten.

I measured my foot to be 9.65 inches and bought a 7. They fit perfectly. Gareth Crouch has great customer service skills. I hope Jim Green gives him a raise.
