The best way to preserve your Jim Greens is through regular and correct polishing. Water, heat and wear remove the natural oil from the leather, so when the tiny fibres dry out they become hard, brittle and break easily, thereby shorten the life of the leather.
For our leather boots we recommend any natural shoe polish found at your local store. For our suede options we suggest light brushing to remove dirt and a scotchguard for longer protection.
After a long day in wet conditions and you requiring your boots early the next morning, the worst possible solution is to artificially dry your boots. Leather fibres burn easily – especially when wet and therefore should never be left near a heater, placed in your oven or left in direct sunlight. For the best results, footwear should be dried out slowly and never subjected to any extreme heat. Should you work in constantly wet conditions, it is best to alternate between two or more pairs of our Jim Green boots.
We realise that buying footwear online is a daunting task and we are often asked to recommend a size by new Jim Green customers. If you happen to purchase a pair of Jim Green boots online and they do not fit, we will happily exchange them for you. If the measurements fall in-between the lengths provided, we do offer half sizes on certain styles. We can recommend a size but we can’t guarantee the fit.

Lazarus –
Really pleased with my new Outback boots. Ordered a 1/2 size up due to my very wide feet. The high quality upper plus the wide forefoot is wonderful. I’ll replace the insole with a higher arch foam insole and I’ll have these boots for a long, long time. Happy to support a SA business.
Cheers,

I’ve owned a lot of boots and I am extremely happy with my pair of Outbacks. I got them on sale for $119 and I think they punch up to compete with boots that cost $300+ like Red Wings, but at a much lower price. Even at full retail I’d buy these boots again with no hesitation. The last feels great as well and I personally feel that the Outbacks look pretty nice. One review mentions that these boots don’t perform well in slippery conditions. The only slippery condition that I’ve worn these in is to walk the dog in the rain and they did well, but I’d keep that in mind if that’s a common use case for you. Comfort is there and the break in period has been very forgiving. To me these are a no brainer and I will be looking at Jim Green first if/when I need another pair of boots (which will be a while because these can be resoled).

Wow, just wow. A couple youtubers have been championing this company and I 100% understand why. I got these on sale, but absolutely worth the full asking price. The leather and craftsman ship is comparable to much higher priced boots. They won’t win you any fashion awards, but you could confidently wear these as toyr daily drivers and not feel out of place in most situations. I love them and will be ordering my summer shoes from Jim Green as well!

Really mixed feelings on these, but the short of it is they simply don’t work for my needs. Got them as a workboot for a wet environment, and wow are the outsoles terrible for slip resistance on smoother surfaces. Unfortunately it took wearing them in that environment to learn that, so I imagine they’re ineligible for return now. I considered resoling them right away so they’re not a total loss, but they do seem to cause a hotspot on the outside of my small toes, despite not having exceptionally wide feet and generally appreciating a roomy toe box. Doesn’t seem worth it to sink that cost into replacing for a more suitable outsole, unfortunately. Good looking boots, good leather, and like what Jim Green is doing, making a well constructed stitchdown boot at this pricepoint, but depending on your use case this just may not be the one.

The boots look even better in-person. I remember being thrilled when I unboxed them. Now that I have broken them in I love them even more! The outsole on this boot is great. The light color contrasts nicely with the dark leather upper. The sole also provides plenty grip without ever becoming packed with mud and debris.

The soles on these were the selling point for me. They are very comfortable under foot and being a slip on is very convenient. I do recommend wearing a mid weight sick with these for a little extra comfort. The wider toe box on all of their boots takes a little getting used to but your toes will thank you later.
