The Barefoot Trooper Boot: Comfort Meets Rugged Durability
Introducing the new Barefoot Trooper boot, a collaboration between Jim Green Footwear and Rose Anvil. A newly designed boot that combines the natural movement and comfort of barefoot footwear with the added support, protection, and versatility needed for demanding outdoor activities. This collaboration not only brings together the history of Jim Green and knowledge of Rose Anvil but also the traditions of American and South African boot-making techniques.
The Barefoot African Trooper boot combines the natural comfort of barefoot-style footwear with the durability essential for everyday tasks in challenging environments. Its sturdy design and high ankle support provide necessary protection, while the flexible sole and spacious toe box allow your feet to move naturally and comfortably.
The flexible sole mimics the natural movement of your foot, providing a new level of comfort and freedom, while the thin soles improve the natural ground feel, giving you better traction and control. The spacious toe box ensures that your toes can spread out naturally, reducing discomfort and allowing for better stability.

This is the best boot I have ever worn. There was no break in needed, I tossed them on and walked 10 miles with no issue between pavement and forested terrain. I was a little skeptical of how it would feel traveling on jagged rocky surfaces with a thinner sole than I am used to, but it gives more than enough protection. I went for a barefoot boot because my feet have been aching badly at work for several months in standard style work boots, two weeks later and all my foot pain is gone. The wide toe box makes my previously cramped toes feel a lot better as well. A+ job done by the folks at Jim Green.

I received these boots about a month ago. They are extremely comfortable and do well in the desert. Because there is no gore-tex liner I think they will work well during the summers as well. I have used them chukar hunting in Nevada and they worked well enough but barefoot style are not the best for steep sidehill hiking for long periods. The build is very good and I really like that I can get the protection from high lace up boots when walking through brush/tumbleweeds and have no stickers going down the shoe or into my socks PLUS they are not heavy boots at all. I have also started using them for mountain biking as I like the added protection over the ankle and the soles are extremely grippy on flat pedals. No need for specific Mnt Bike shoes. I can also use them at work on job sites as a biological monitor and ‘appear’ to have steel toed boots but am able to walk/survey the entire work areas all day without getting sore feet. These boots are way better than I had anticipated. Thank you!

I received my Troopers and they are amazing. they fit a lot like my barefoot African Rangers. The biggest difference I have noticed the last couple of days is that the heel is a more snug fit with the Troopers. The difference in the heel counter shape really does make a difference. I love them, they have a more locked in feel and that aspect along with the added height make them feel extra secure. I can’t wait intel they are fully broken in. The houston brown leather looks and feels great. Thank you to all the hard working people making these outstanding boots!

I just received these boots a few days ago and I love them so far. They have a bit roomier feel throughout the whole foot than my Barefoot African Rangers, but as someone with very wide feet and a tall instep it feels great. For someone with narrower feet, you might consider going down a half size or consulting Jim Green before purchasing.
As always with Jim Green, the quality of construction is excellent and the price is even better. I’m so glad they came out with these so I can have a quality barefoot boot to get me through the winter and keep grass seeds out of my socks in the summer.
