Introducing the New “Chief” to our Range – The Numzaan Boot.
We’ve listened to our customers and are thrilled to bring you the Numzaan boot—crafted with the Jim Green touch for top quality, comfort, and formality on every occasion.
Derived from the Zulu word “Numzaan,” meaning the head of a family or a leader, we proudly present the Numzaan boot as the distinguished “Chief” in our collection. Inspired by our Baobab boot, it projects a heritage feel and features our new Veg Tan leather, making it our most stylish boot to date.
You may want to sit down for this one as there are a lot of specs to run through. The Numzaan boot boasts a double lasted upper (2.2mm lined with 1.2mm calfskin) and is finished off with a genuine toe cap, making this boot sport over 5mm of leather around the toes. The Heel and toe area is also reinforced with thermoplastic toe puffs for added support. This is paired with an ankle-high lace-up system and bellows tongue.
The unique facing pattern allows for less lace pressure for those days when the boots need some added tightening. We’ve gone the extra mile by incorporating a leather lasting board, leather midsole, and a resin runner (totaling over 8mm of leather) that will gradually mold to the shape of your feet. All of this comes together with the innovative Frog Grip sole, marking a new stride forward in the Jim Green range.

Each year, hundreds of buffalo are removed from our local reserves for diseases and population control measures, with everything on the animal being utilized, but the skin we decided something needed to be done.
We sent out a skinning and salting team into a conservancy (logistical nightmare) to gather and prepare these skins for our tannery.
These skins were purchased from the reserve, raising much-needed funds for a by-product that would have been disposed of.
Not only do we raise funds for the reserve by purchasing the skins, but we will also, through the sale of the boots, donate a bunch of boots to rangers in need through our Boots for Rangers Program.

- NB: Due to the extreme conditions African Buffalo live in, the leather will vary from pair to pair, every boot will have a unique texture and look to it. The product images used show the difference between what you can get.
- The boot is designed with elegance and comfort in mind.
- Manufactured with a double layer of leather (2.2mm full grain Buffalo leather, lined with 1.6mm calf leather).
- Double layer of leather aids in the boot’s water-resistant properties (not waterproof).
- A true leather toe cap and built-in leather Kiltie add to the look and durability.
- The Toe, Heel, and Eyelet areas are manufactured with a double layer of 2.2mm full grain leather for added durability.
- Heel and Toe stiffeners for added durability, support, and protection.
- A steel shank between the insole board and sole offers extra support and stability.
- A leather lasting board, leather midsole, and a resin runner for added comfort and durability.
- Heavy-duty speed hooks and eyelets help secure your feet.
- The leather midsole is secured to the upper with a double-stitched 2.2mm braided nylon cord.
- As with all our boots, these can be resoled due to their double stitch down construction.
- STC last – This last has a 2E wide fit and offers a roomy and rounded toe box.
- Sole: JG (This sole is our lug option and is designed for grip. It is a genuine rubber and of a firm feel to provide stability underfoot).

These Boots are fantastic! I received my shipment yesterday, rubbed some beeswax on them last night. I wore them to work today. They are a little stiff, but that goes with the territory. These boots look much better in reality, than what the pictures on the website look. The Cape Buffalo hide has streaks and blemishes in it, which I really enjoy. I am sure that these are the best Numzaan boots, that I have ever purchased. Get a pair of these!
